About me! (Note: Update below photo!)
Reading Survey:
Steven have always been a strong reader, although Steven cannot say he likes reading, he's not particularly bad at it. Steven can comprehend well and for the most part, and summarize without difficulty, although often Steven has to read over text more than once to really grasp a strong understanding. He likes to evaluate ideas as he reads, accept or reject those ideas and use them to modify his own thoughts he currently had. Steven likes to hold an imaginary conversation with the text he's reading if that makes any sense to you, he likes to really interact with it.
Steven has picked up good habits that aide me in finding key points when Steven reads. For one, Steven always make tabs on a paragraph or sentences or a particular word for a part Steven should remember or go back and read. Utilizing these critical thinking techniques in what Steven is reading has allowed him to no longer feel like he is just reading words, but actually feel like he is in the book threw all the action and sorrow. Steven actually remember more of the little stuff in the book, which could connect to bigger events, so all the things a character/author is doing and or saying Steven will understand the full loop and it all makes more sense.
Writing Survey:
Steven doesn't do much writing outside of school in a grammatical and spell free way. but Steven does think he's a good writer and believe that writing is about finding your voice, describing your own personality, and how you see something that can differ from someone else point of view, and Steven loves that! Steven think it’s OK to write “outside the box” he think everyone should interpret something different from a piece and always write something different about it. . Does it really matter what lesson was learned? As long as a lesson was learned, Goal accomplished right? Steven believes so.
One thing Steven's mom taught him is "The Three R’s of Literacy; Reflect, Reason and Revise". Reflect: How does the text he is reading speak to him? How is Steven comprehending the information he's reading? What are Steven's feelings towards the writing and why does is he feeling this way? Reason: How Steven's thought process and feelings are the same or how do they different from that of another persons opinionated stance. Why might another person feel different, did they comprehend it the same way Steven did? Revise: How he takes all information he gathered and incorporated it into his text. Is there a more beneficial way Steven can explain or can elaborate more on some key points that the reader will gain a clearer understanding. This Strategy Steven used has been a awesome beneficial aide relating to his writings strengths and weaknesses.
Steven feels he possess valuable writing strengths such as a rich vocabulary, good spelling, grammar and structural organization skills. Steven also has the ability to know what can work, and a very seamless ease to move, switch and shuffle words and sentences around in an efficient manner to make a paper "acceptable". Another literacy tactic Steven likes to approach is using synonyms. Using synonyms in his papers is very important objective for Steven personally, he trys to make the paper sound as fluent and well put together as possible. Using synonyms have also improved Steven's dictionary tremendously, he like to know words that have the same meaning but a richer sound!
